The Ultimate Bike is a Custom Bike
Forget what you’ve been told about aerodynamics, stiffness-to-weight ratios and complex composite layups—the ultimate bike is a full custom bike made specifically for you and how, where and why you ride.
We founded Haley with the goal of bringing a premium custom bike experience to every one of our customers. We make it easy, and we don’t charge extra for it, because we believe it results in the best experience for the rider. Here’s why.
The FIt. When it comes to performance, comfort and all-around good times on the bike, nothing matters more than a properly fitting bike. Beyond stem length, bar width and saddle setback…a proper fit comes from understanding a rider’s weight distribution between the wheels, flexibility and pedaling style and the results can improve comfort, handling, and help prevent or address injuries.
Your fit might come from the data generated by a professional bike fitter who’s precisely captured your measurements and can provide details on your specific, performance-optimized frame geometry, or it might come from the many years you've spent on an old favorite bike you’d like to replicate in a modernized version. And if you don’t even know where to start, we can help make the process easy.
The Feel. It’s no secret that here at Haley, we’re partial to titanium. Its unique metallurgical properties make it an exceptional material for a bicycle frame, with a ride feel that’s so often referred to as ‘magical’ that it borders on cliche. Not only is titanium an inherently lively, light, strong and resilient material, it’s also easy to tune and customize to suit the intended use, and specific rider.
At Haley, our bikes start with conversations. We want to learn a little about our riders and what they intend to do with their new bike, so we can factor it into the frame design. Sometimes this means we use thin wall, double-oversized tubing to add stiffness with minimal weight penalty—perfect for riders who push big watts out of the saddle—or we might select smaller tube diameters for road riders spending a lot of time on rough pavement. We customize the ride feel of every Haley to offer something beyond some generic production bike stiffness-to-compliance ratio…our bikes are each customized to the rider and their riding style, and it’s a difference you’ll notice in the first mile.
The Finish. To be sure there are several big bike brands and countless boutique builders already offering custom finishes, often for an upcharge. At Haley we work with some of the industry’s best artists for wet paint, Cerakote and anodized finishes. Whether you want something ornate and complicated that’ll catch eyes on the Saturday morning ride or simply wish to match the dark blue of your BMW, we can make it happen. And having a bike that’s custom finished exactly how you want is something you’ll appreciate every time you head out for a ride.
But do you NEED a custom bike?
We get the question a lot. We’re probably biased, but the answer is yes.
Tall and thin? Short and stocky? Custom bikes are no-brainers for riders on the fringes of so-called ‘normal sizing’ who need fit geometry and a tuned ride not available with production bikes. It is true that riders of average proportions can likely find a standard sized production bike that fits well and feels fine, and for some, maybe that’s good enough.
We think bikes should be more than that. In our own many decades of riding, racing and thinking about nothing but bikes, we firmly believe that a custom bike offers a comprehensively personal experience that will give you joy with every ride for years to come.
