The Long and Winding Road

They say cycling can become a passion. A part of life. And it can leave an indelible mark that can last a lifetime.

For me, it started in 1983 during a trip to Europe to visit family. It was there where I was first exposed to cycling, but not as a sport, but as a method of transportation. A few “long” rides in and out of the metropolitan city area and I was becoming hooked. The bicycle represented a certain freedom that carried over when I returned home. At that point, it transitioned to sport and the mark on my life was developing.

As I grew up, I spent time working in bike shops starting in 1987. I worked my way through high school and college before transitioning to the wholesale side of the business after I graduated with my business degree. I was young and ambitious, and wanted to grow and learn more and more about the industry. I progressed and advanced, and started building my career.
Over the years, I worked my way up through a handful of companies in the Bay Area, including almost a ten year span with Veltec Sports and LOOK where we built their first US based subsidiary. I learned a ton about bicycle frame technology and design, manufacturing methodologies, carbon fiber, and geometry. I eventually continued on my career journey to run Ritchey Design in North America where I continued to learn more about industrial design, Asian frame and component manufacturing. And during my time at Capo Cycling Apparel, I learned about true entrepreneurship. The owners taught me that it was something that was truly achievable if I wanted it.

My industry roles spanned sales and marketing, product management and development, marketing, finance, and senior level VP and GM management responsibilities while running the North American operations for LOOK, Ritchey, and Capo. I’m not afraid to say that I made my share of mistakes throughout my career, but I’m proud of the road my career has taken me on.

I decided to start my own business in 2014. It’s evolved quite a bit over the last decade. But as we celebrate our company’s ten year anniversary, there is a key brand that we developed that is the dearest to me:

Haley Titanium Bicycles.

We had our first bikes on the ground in 2018 and have now sold bicycles all over the world. It’s not been an easy road, but growth and development can flourish when faced with adversity. We were fortunate to survive and even thrive through COVID. Those were crazy years for everyone, including this industry, and especially for a small brand in brand building mode. But we are persevering and continuing to evolve. Our most recent accomplishments include finally moving our manufacturing home to Marin County from Colorado. We have a fantastic partnership with a brilliant team of designers and engineers, and welder here and look forward to even more growth over the coming years.

We’ve gone through our share of growing pains and have had to learn from mistakes along the way, but we are proud of how our brand has grown. I believe that our frames have continued to progress and improve in ways that make practical sense. Their ride quality, durability, and longevity continues to improve as we grow.

I absolutely encourage you to reach out to me if you have any questions about who I am, who the brand is, what we represent, how we’re different, and how we got here.

It has been a long and winding road over the past 40 years, but those are often the best roads to ride on.

My line is always open.
